In 2014, Marie and Benoit Lombrière decided to take over 5,5 hectares of vineyards from Marie’s parents, Marcel and Maryse Georges, in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. From the beginning, they were joined by Alaric de Portal and together they build the foundations of the Domaine and established the daily operations of the vineyard.
Through teamwork they have reconnected with a certain idea of a Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine should be, by creating, away from all fades and trends, refined wines which are deliciously infused to highlight the fruit’s delicacy, the grape’s truth and the terroir’s strong expressiveness.
Of the Domaine’s 5.5 hectares, 5 hectares are continuous, set on a hillside facing south sun-drenched by the mistral (300 days per year).
Amongst the rolled pebbles and chalky clay and limestone soil typical of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape region, Grenache blossoms like no-where else and covers 4.5 hectares of the Domaine.
The vines are located at the « le bois de la vieille » in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with some of the Grenache vines over half a century old. Vines have been cultivated there for over 7 centuries!
Starting in 2017, the entire vineyard is undergoing conversion to organic farming. This label will formally recognize a form of production which has been de facto used in the Domaine since its start.
